Jesus told the familiar story of two builders – one building on sand, the other on rock. One had an easy time, the other had to work hard; but only one had a building fit for purpose.

It’s a parable that has many applications both practical and spiritual and we all understand the message.

So why do we, so often – too often, choose an easy path over the path to a better destination?

Today we’re looking at the Armour of God in Ephesians – another parable linking our spiritual lives to the life of a soldier.

We don’t like war or violence or fighting, but as long as there is evil around, those who would be righteous must be prepared to stand.

Put on the full armour of God, so … you may be able to stand … firm. Ephesians 6:13f
