Last week, in Isaiah 55, we saw that God is making an open invitation to come and find satisfaction in him. This week, God addresses two groups who may have been tempted to think that this invitation doesn’t apply to them. Both groups are reassured by God that their background is no barrier to receiving God’s salvation; if they trust in him and keep his covenant, they will be accepted along with everyone else.

God is still making his invitation to the world today. Through Jesus, God is gathering people from every nation on earth to himself. But as in Isaiah’s time, there are still people who may assume that the invitation is not really offered to them. This week, why not take some time to think who those people might be, why they might think God doesn’t want to invite them, and whether there’s anything we do that might give them that impression. God still has more people to gather in Shaw.
