I was talking to a small child last week – I was leaving and he was asking why I had to go. So I explained in my best talking-to-a-3-year-old voice why I was leaving, and he simply repeated the question “Why?”

Sometimes, people are satisfied with knowing what’s going to happen or how to make things work, but for him, for me, and maybe for you too, it’s the deeper questions of How? and Why? that interest us.

Human beings have a God-given sense that things should make sense – the whole of science is founded on a belief that the laws of the universe are constant and there to be discovered. And I think that maybe Theology is similar: God doesn’t do things on a whim, he isn’t mercurial or fickle, there’s a reason for what he does. And one of the astonishing things about that, is that he reveals himself to us!
What have you discovered about God as you walk with him and talk with him?

It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings. Proverbs 25:2.
