I knew someone at school who considered himself to be a Christian because he was born in Britain – it was about where he was born.

We are Church of England, and some believe living in England (or being English) makes them a Christian.

Officially, in the CofE, you become a Christian when you are baptised.

A lady once told me “I’m a Christian, but not one of those ‘born again’ Christians”. Her sister’s responded, “Aren’t all Christians born again?”

Or maybe a Christian is someone who follows Christ – follows Jesus. But what does it mean to follow?

Is it enough to read a Gospel and approved of what Jesus did and said?

Is it enough to go to a church to worship him?

Or are we still missing something?

Jesus talked about carrying a cross, about finishing what you start, about being salt.

What would that mean?

Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear. Luke 14:34
