I’ve been going to Theale on Wednesday’s for lunch. The first couple of weeks, I cycled. It’s economical (no petrol), it’s good for my fitness (lungs and legs get a good workout), I might even be allowed an extra piece of chocolate!
But some people pointed out how dangerous are the roads (Google suggested the Canal Towpath, which is a bit of a curate’s egg – excellent in parts, but the parts that aren’t spoil the whole).
For the sake of time (it’s an hour to cycle, much less to drive) and to avoid the rain, I drove weeks 3 and 4.
Good reasons to do this, good reasons to do that, but being one traveller I have to choose. What is my priority? One more week to go. Shall I cycle or shall I drive?
Perhaps the most significant priority choice we make is between our love for the world and our love for the World’s creator. The World is amazing, and beautiful, and exciting, and tempting, and full of opportunities.
The apostle John explains why our creator must come first: “The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.” 1Jn2:17
