Small (usually £500 or less) grants or loans are available to meet specific needs of persons experiencing urgent need, hardship or distress who reside within the Parish of Shaw Cum Donnington or in the immediately adjacent area who have some connection to the parish e.g. school.
Grants are also available to organisations providing support to the Parish community.
Grants are aimed at assisting people through a period of sickness or hardship. The range of support that the charity can provide is extensive and includes:
- Weekly allowance for a limited period to address an urgent need;
- Special payments to relieve sudden distress;
- Purchase of specific items such as washing machines
- Payment of travel expenses for individuals requiring medical treatment or relatives visiting such persons;
- Payments for essential services e.g. home help, nursing aid
provided that such support would not replace support already available from Social Services, Local Authorities etc.
Examples of recent grants include:
- £200 to help a family with purchase of school uniform for a child moving to secondary school;
- £350 for a primary school pupil to attend a residential course with the rest of their year group;
- £500 for specialist equipment for a disabled child
